LEARN to PLAY it, HEAR it, TEACH it!

How do I Join PYJO?
-The first step is to decide which band you believe you belong in and check the class times to see if they fit in your schedule.

-There is NO Audition or Placement process needed to Join PYJO Pops! or PYJO 3. Just sign-up!

-To join PYJO 1, 2, Vanguard or Rhythm Bands, (or the Combo Series), you need placement permission from the directors. The idea is to make sure that musicians in each band are on a similar level and that every student is challenged at an appropriate pace. Please contact the directors via email to discuss placement. If necessary they will send audition material (often you can use something you already have worked up).

-PYJO Bands Run Late September through June. There are 3 Sessions: Fall / Winter / Spring Summer classes and workshops are also available.

PYJO Gives Back
-With their Student Teacher Program
- With School Outreach Programs
- Performance experiences that raise money for scholarships to support other students
- Students are encouraged to teach, share, and pass on what they have learned to younger musicians in our program or in their communities or school bands
-Experienced players are often asked to perform in small groups for gigs around the city: Portland Jazz Festival events, private parties, corporate events, school fundraisers, community events etc.

Fun!
PYJO is fun! Rehearsals move fast and boggle the brain; but are always full of laughs. The Medlers have a great connection with their students. Getting results with positive energy.
